Statement from Chair of Policy and Resources Councillor Di Keal on the announcement of the death of Her Majesty the Queen

It is with immeasurable sadness that we mark news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who has been a figure of grace and strength for our nation for so many years.

The thoughts of Ryedale District Council are with the Royal Family as they grieve her loss.

We too shall grieve, for a Monarch who has been at the centre of our national life for nearly a century, and who has shown such devoted service to its citizens.

The flag at our offices will now be flown at half-mast as a mark of our respect.  From tomorrow, the grounds of Ryedale House shall be open for the placing of flowers for Her Majesty. A book of condolences will also be available to sign within Ryedale House.

Ryedale District Council now unites with millions of others across this country, and across the world, to pay tribute to the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and to mourn her passing.
