Subscribers to the service receive a special brown bin for garden waste, which is collected by the Council throughout the year, except during winter.
Prices for this year (which will run from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021) have been frozen, so an annual subscription for one garden waste bin will cost £38, the same as last year. Householders can order additional licences for more bins if they choose.
Councillor Keane Duncan, leader of Ryedale District Council, said:
"We've been able to freeze the cost of the green waste service this year, meaning a bin costs £38 again.
“We have a lot of keen gardeners in Ryedale, and our green waste service is extremely popular, year in, year out.
“With a garden waste collection subscription, we not only take the garden waste away, but you have the comfort of knowing that it will go to local farmers for composting – so you are helping to make a greener Ryedale.”
For those who have the space and want to make their own compost, Council also supplies low-cost composters and kitchen waste composters.
