Christmas waste and recycling collections
Ryedale District Council is reminding citizens that their waste and recycling collections may be late over the festive period.
With Public Holidays taking place throughout the festive period, the Christmas week collections starting on 26 December means that household rubbish and recycling collections will be either one or two days late. The service will be operating on Wednesday 28 December up to and including Saturday 31 December.
New Year collections due the week commencing 2 January will be one day late all week. The service will be operating from Tuesday 3 January up to and including Saturday 7 January.
Commercial waste collections will be either one or two days late from the week commencing 26 December, with the collection service operating Wednesday 28 December to Saturday 31 December. For the week commencing 2 January, commercial waste collections will either be on time or one day late – the collection service will be operating Tuesday 2 January to Friday 6 January.
Margaret Wallace, Director of People and Resource for Ryedale District Council said: “We’d like to remind our citizens that there are Public Holidays on 26 and 27 December and 2 January 2023. Our Streetscene team will be working hard as always to collect your waste and recycling but remember collections could be one or two days late over the festive period.
“We can recycle Christmas cards, wrapping paper that can be scrunched up and envelopes without windows if you pop it in your kerbside recycling. Metal biscuit tins can also be taken along with the aluminium and plastic bottles. Pringle tubes can be dropped off at our mini recycling centres too.”
